Back to List>> Chairman Tang Wenjing Awarded 2004 Top 10 Characters in China's Hotel Industry

Good news came from Beijing that Mr. Tang Wenjian, Chairman and President of Jinling Holdings Limited, was awarded 2004 Top 10 Characters in China's Hotel Industry by Hotel Modernization, the most authoritative magazine in China's hotel industry and a partner publication of the International Hotels and Restaurants Association (IHRA).

On June 2, 2005, an Awarding Ceremony of 2004 Top 10 Characters in China's Hotel Industry and F& B Industry was held in King Wing Hot Spring Hotel Beijing. Chairman Tang heads the 2004 Top 10 Characters in China's Hotel Industry while Mr. Su Jingshi, President of China Yum Brands Inc. and other 9 professionals became 2004 Top 10 Characters in China's F& B Industry. More than 200 guests from Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China Cuisine Association, China Tourist Hotels Association, and Beijing Tourism Administration took part in the ceremony.

After more than 20 years' reform and opening-up, China's hotel industry has achieved remarkable results. Up to now, there are as many as 11,180 deluxe hotels, with more than 1 million guest rooms. There have been an average of 150 million guests each year in recent years, and the number of staff members exceeded 1 million. All major international hotel groups have come to China. When assessing the Beijing's accommodation capacities, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) gave 100 points to show their complete satisfaction. This indicates that China’s hotel industry has won international recognition.

Meanwhile, F&B industry has developed rapidly with revenue rising from RMB111.5 billion in 1994 to RMB 740 billion in 2004. In the past 13 years, F& B industry has maintained an annual growth rate over 10%. In 2004, its revenue takes up the 14% of the total amount of China's consumer products. More than 1 million employers are added each year in this sector.

The rapid development of hotel industry and F&B industry in China owe much to the reform and opening up policy by the government on one hand, and great efforts by the management team on the other. To encourage the spirit of renovation and professionalism, Hotel Modernization & World Cuisine, two major magazines in the sector, initiated the plan to award Top 10 Characters in hotel and F&B industry every year starting 2003.

Jointly organized by China General Chamber of Commerce, China Cuisine Association, China Tourist Hotels Association, and World Association of China Cuisine, this year's events had more than 40 candidates from China's hotel and F&B industry. Finally 10 professionals from each field came out of them to become the 2004 Top Ten.
