The Jinling Hotel Nanjing was one of the 6 large
hotels catering to overseas tourists approved by the State Council in 1979. Since
its establishment in 1983, it had been the tallest building inChina. It was
designated by the international media
as the “window ofChina’s
reform and opening up” and was the first large international hotel managed by Chinese.
This extraordinary building has witnessed 30 years ofChina’s reform and
opening-up.
In 1980s, the Jinling Hotel Nanjing was the tallest
building in China.

The Jinling Hotel Nanjing was built in line with
international standards. For a model, it chose the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong,
to which the Jinling’s excellent staff was sent to learn international advanced
management. Instead of simply copying, the hotel also strived to innovate, and
successfully created the Jinling Hotel Nanjing’s system of management which
integrated international standards and Chinese culture. Within only 10 years, the
hotel paid off the capital construction debts of 45 million USD.
In July 1984, Jin’s Deli, laundry center, photography
center, beauty salon and the visiting area of theSkyPalacebecame “five highlights” of the hotel.
In February 1985, Jinli Supermarket (a Sino-Hong Kong
joint venture) opened, becoming the first supermarket in Nanjing.
In January 1986, “Liuchaochun” Hong Kong Restaurant opened, and the
Cantonese breakfast became a trademark ofNanjing.
In January 1988, the Shopping Center of the Jinling Hotel Nanjing
opened. It was the first upscale shopping center inNanjing.
Then the Jinling Hotel Nanjing successively became involved in chain
fast food restaurants, travel agency services, car rental, communications,
advertising and decoration, and other businesses.
In October 1993, the Jinling Hotel Nanjing was named the first
5-star hotel inJiangsuProvince.
In 1995, the hotel was named one of “China’s Best Five-Star Hotels.”
In 1996, the hotel was second on the list of “Top 100 and Best 50
Star-rated Hotels inChina.”
In May 1997, theNanjingWorldTradeCenterwas completed and
put into operation.
On January 2000, the hotel was named one of “The Leading Hotels of
the World.”
On
January 2001, the Jinling Resort Nanjing opened, indicating that Jinling had
taken the first step towards hotel investment.
In April
2001, the Jinling Hotel Nanjing invested in the real estate industry. The “MasterLand”
project became the model for upscale villas inNanjing.
In
October 2002, the Jinling Hotel Nanjing reconstituted and Jinling Holdings was
established. In December 30 of the same year, the Jinling Hotel Corporation was
founded as part of Jinling Holdings.
In June
2004, the Jinling Hotels & Resorts Corporation was founded. Jinling
achieved remarkable progress, going from “simple management output” to “brand
chain operation”.
On February
6, 2007, the Issuance Examination Commission of the China Securities Regulatory
Commission approved the application of the IPO of the Jinling Hotel Corporation
In
March 2007, the Jinling Hotel Corporation successfully made a roadshow
promotion in three places, thereby helping to promote its stock issuance.
On
March 28, 2007, the Jinling Hotel Corporation conducted an IPO of 0.11 billion
RMB, raised net capital of 0.444 billion, and the registered capital of the
company increased from 0.19 billion to 0.3 billion.
On April 6, 2007, Jinling Hotel (S.H.601007) was listed on the Shanghai
Stock Exchange, becoming the first IPO inChina’s
hotel industry after full circulation, and the first publically-traded tourism
company inJiangsuProvince.
In December 2007, the “Jinling · Tianquanhu Business Center” with a
planned area of 48 square kilometers in Xuyi County was launched, and began striving
to build China’s first-class eco-tourism resort along with a cluster of tertiary
industry.
On October 30, 2008, the expansion project of the Jinling Hotel Nanjing, Asia Pacific Tower, commenced.
In April 2011, the “Jinling-TianquanhuEco-TourismPark” opened,
and its 5-star luxury hotel and first batch of apartments for the elderly was successfully
completed.
In November 2012, the Jinling Holdings started construction of the
120,000-square-meter retirement community.
In August 2013, the number of Jinling member hotels reached 135, and
its number of the 5-star hotels under management ranked first inChina.
In October
2013, the main building ofAsiaPacificTowerwas completed. The Jinling Hotel Nanjing became the largest hotel complex in
Jiangsu Province.

In February 1985, the standing committee of the CPC
Central Committee Political Bureau, and Chairman of the State Military
Commission Deng Xiaoping inspected the Jinling Hotel Nanjing, and made
arrangements to open a Hong Kong -Nanjingchartered flight to increase movement between the mainland and Hong Kong, and
thus opened an outlet forNanjingto the world.
In December 1985, Chairman Li Xiannian stayed at the
Jinling Hotel Nanjing.
In October 1991, the General Secretary of the CPC,
Chairman of the State Military Commission and State President Jiang Zemin made
his first visit to the Jinling Hotel Nanjing.
In February 1993, Vice Premier Zou Jiahua stayed at
the Jinling Hotel Nanjing and wrote an inscription for the hotel.
In October
1993, Premier Zhu Rongji stayed at the Jinling Hotel Nanjing.
In September 1999, the Vice Chairman of Chinese
People's Political Consultative Conference Huo Yingdong stayed at the Jinling
Hotel Nanjing, and praised the hotel as the “flagship ofChina’s reform
and opening-up and tourism development.”
In October 1999, Vice Premier of State Council Wu
Bangguo stayed at the Jinling Hotel Nanjing and wrote inscriptions for the
hotel.
In February 2003, the General Secretary of the CPC,
Chairman of the State Military Commission and State President Jiang Zemin
stayed at the Jinling Hotel Nanjing for the second time and met withCuba’s
President Fidel Castro.
In May 1983, the sixth day of the soft opening, the
hotel successfully organized the reception of French President Francois
Mitterrand. President Mitterrand said that “This modern and well-managed hotel
fully reflects thatChinahas the ability to push onward to a brighter future.”
In May 1986, Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke stayed at the Jinling
Hotel Nanjing.
In July 1987, former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl stayed at the
Jinling Hotel Nanjing.
In October 1998, formerUSpresident George Bush stayed at
the Jinling Hotel Nanjing.
In September 2003, former German president Johannes Rau stayed at the
Jinling Hotel Nanjing.
From April to July 2005, Chairman of the Kuomintang Lian Zhan, chairman
of People First Party of Taiwan Song Chuyu and chairman of New Party of
Taiwan Yu Muming made visits to mainlandChinaand both stayed at the
Jinling Hotel Nanjing. The hotel witnessed the “Journey for Peace”.
