Back to List>> Jinling Finds New Engine Near Tianquan Lake

Located by the peaceful Tianquan Lake in Xuyi county of Jiangsu Province, a key investment project featuring ecotourism continues to gradually take shape.

The Jinling & Tianquanhu Central Business District Project, known for its complex functionality and eco-friendliness; epitomizes Jinling's efforts for trans-regional and multi-industry expansion.

Why is Jinling, the giant in China's hotel industry, setting its sights on ecotourism and resort development?

Tang Wenjian, Chairman & President of Jinling Holdings Ltd. supplied an answer to us; This project is a new engine to speed up Jinling's development characterized by a dual focus on hotel development and ecotourism development. They interconnect with each other, and double the driving speed of Jinling Holdings Ltd.

In recent years, Jinling Hotel Corporation (subsidiary to Jinling Holdings Ltd.) has experienced steady growth since it was listed on the stock market. It has maintained the leading position in China's hotel industry. Jinling Hotels & Resorts has become a famous brand in China managing with as many as 87 properties throughout the nation; making Jinling not only one of the top 50 hotel brands in the world but also one of the top 3 leading hotels groups in China. The total revenue and net profit achieved by Jinling Holding Ltd. in the first six months this year have risen by 54.7% and 162.6% respectively over that of last year.

Jinling is still not content with its achievements. The management group and staff are concerned about how to integrate resources for sustainable development while uncovering new economic growth points.

With the rapid expansion of international hotel brands; the competition between hotel brands in China has become fiercer. Independent hotels can scarcely withstand the challenges and changes presented in the market if they are merely content with the status quo.

It is reported that recreational travel will become popular when GDP per capita exceeds US$3,000. In recent years, a large number of resorts and business areas have appeared along the Yangtze and Pearl River delta to accommodate people's increasing demand for leisure and pleasure activities.

As a superior domestic brand, Jinling has been looking for opportunities before it leaps. Based on the impressive management style and success of Jinling Hotel, Jinling Holding Ltd is selective about projects and partners. This time it chooses to cooperate with Xuyi, a gateway to northern Jiangsu, well known for its natural resources, to extend Jinling brand and also the influence of Nanjing Metropolitan Circle.

Jinling's advantages in branding, financing capabilities, and management will help the local government optimize its resources for greater benefits. Cai Duncheng, secretary of CPC Xuyi Committee, is confident about the future of Tianquanhu project. Jinling's brand benefits combined with Xuyi's natural resources will greatly ensure our success, he said.

Upon completion, the Jinling & Tianquanhu Central Business District will consist of a hotel, a waterside club, an ecological agriculture garden, a popular science education base for children, a creative industry park, an artists' village, and nursing homes for the elderly. The multi-function facilities will cater to different needs of people from the surrounding areas. said an expert from the world famous Atkins Company, designer of this provincial project, This is an eco-friendly and complex project, we are dedicated to preserving the natural beauties here.

To Ge Shoukun, head of the economics institute, Jiangsu Academy of Social Sciences, this project is not only an eco-friendly leisure project, but also a good example of south-north cooperation. It signifies Jinling's transition from the traditional hotel industry to a modern enterprise aiming at the market of leisure, health, and recreations while Xuyi county will switch from being a manufacturing economy to a modern service-based economy.

The Jinling & Tianquanhu Central Business District project has been progressing steadily after it was approved in September 2009 by Jiangsu Development and Reform Commission. It was placed on the list of Provincial Key Projects for the past two consecutive years. Covering an area of 47 square kilometers, the phase I development of this 6-billion RMB project is scheduled to complete by the end of 2011.

We are looking forward to the birth of a brand new leisure resort area along the picturesque Tiangquan Lake.
