BEIING – The first Business Traveller China Awards were presented on 17th November, in an exclusive gathering of the travel industry’s movers and shakers from China and around the region. Reflecting solely the judgment of the magazine’s readers’, who travel frequently around China and Asia-Pacific, the accolade also celebrates achievements of tourism leaders and travel providers around the region. The exclusive event, staged at the grand ballroom of China World Hotel Beijing, witnessed nearly 240 of the travel industry’s colleagues in attendance.

A total of 32 awards were handed out, representing the readers’ choices of Favourite City in the World (Hong Kong), Best Airport in China (Hong Kong International Airport) and the World (Singapore Changi Airport), as well the best in eight Airline categories, including Best Chinese Airline Serving China (Air China) and 20 hotel categories, including Best Hotel Brand in China (Shangri-La) and the World (Grand Hyatt) and to top corporate hotels in 15 business cities in China, one of which is Jinling Hotel.

Trophies were also given out for Best Serviced Residence Brand (Ascott), Best Resort in China (Sheraton Sanya) and Best Golf Resort in China (Mission Hills Resort Shenzhen), an achievement clearly signifying the coming of age in the sport on the Mainland.

Since the launch of Business Traveller China in 2002, the publication has gained a strong and increasingly loyal readership amongst business travellers in China, remarked Business Traveller China publisher Peggy Teo. The launch of this year’s awards, which will take place annually hereafter, is testimony to the title’s growing credibility as the leading herald of China corporate travel sector. These award winners have impressed our readers with their firm commitment to the highest standards of service. All deserve to take centre stage.

Between July and October, 2005, poll forms were dispatched to the readers of Business Traveller China, and the response rate was 5.7%. Results will be published in the January/February 2006 issue of the magazine.
