From June 9 to 12, the 19th International Travel Expo (ITE) was successfully held in Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. The Expo has long been recognized as one of the leading travel exhibitions worldwide, offering an unparalleled platform for the trade, and visitors to understand the latest trend in international travel market, according to Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of HK Special Administrative Region (SAR).

For a long time, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan have been the major sources of Mainland’s in-bound tourism market. Guests from these areas take up 80% of in-bound travelers, with Hong Kong guests taking up as much as 60-63%, said Fan Guishan, Director of Asia Travel Trade from China’s National Tourism Administration. The number of guests is expected to rise even more rapidly based on the increasing exchange between Mainland and these areas.

With a total of 15,000 square meters for exhibition, the ITE this year has attracted more than 500 international exhibitors from over 50 countries and regions, a 40% increase over that of last year. Many of the exhibitors increased their scales this time. China and Japan still had the largest number of pavilions. Broadly, 40% of the pavilions came from Asia, 26% from Europe, 20% from Americas and the Oceania, and 14% from Asia and Middle East. By sectors, airlines, hotels and resorts, and travel agents constitute the larger participations. The Special Travel theme pavilion included exhibitors on hot spring & spa, diving & eco-tours, adventure, and destination wedding.

China's National Tourism Administration featured Welcome to Beijing for 2008 Olympics this year. The materials and plays, combining ancient folk customs in the West and modern facilities in the East, greatly impressed the visitors.

On behalf of Jinling Hotels and Resorts, Patrick Liu, Vice General Manage of Jinling Advanced Marketing Services, and Wang Jinsong, Senior Sales Manager of Jinling Hotel Nanjing, took part in the ITE. They had a broad exchange with travel agencies and buyers to make the Jinling brand better known as a thriving National Hotel Chain. The feedback from the visitors, especially Jinling’s successful receptions of Lian Zhan and James Soong, won the Jinling a fine reputation for its golden touch of hospitality and as the leading hotel in Nanjing.
